On your Mac

Your dictation, notes and recordings stay on your Mac. Maccimo does not upload them.

Meetings, their transcripts and summaries, calendar details Maccimo reads to name a meeting, and voice profiles, which are off until you turn them on, also stay on your Mac. The terms explain what you are responsible for when you record other people.

On your iPhone

Dictation by Maccimo turns your voice into text on your iPhone. Your audio and the text you dictate stay on the iPhone and are never uploaded, and the speech model works offline.

The keyboard asks for Full Access only to pass your words to the Dictation app on the same iPhone. It has no network code and sends nothing anywhere.

When you sign in, our server stores your account’s email and a random device ID for each iPhone. We use the ID only to count your devices: up to 3 iPhones, separate from your 2 Macs. The app has no analytics or advertising code.

When you buy a license

Our server stores only what a license needs: the email you bought with, your license key, a random device ID for each Mac you activate, when each Mac was activated and last checked in, and Stripe payment references.

The device ID is created by Maccimo on first launch and kept in your Mac’s Keychain, so it stays the same if you reinstall Maccimo. It identifies the Mac to the license server only, and is never linked to your dictation or notes.

If you use the lost-key form, we keep a one-way hash of the address and when the form was last used for it, so the form can’t be used to send repeated emails.

Payments are processed by Stripe. License emails are sent through Cloudflare Email Service.
